I am a Reception and Year 1 Team Leader @ Swanwick Primary School, Derbyshire. I teach a class of 30 Reception age children in addition to being part of the School Leadership Team.
I have been in my current school for 7 years and over the last 2 years, I have become an Early Years Lead Teacher for Derbyshire and a Specialist Lead Teacher for the Teaching School Alliance, based at Alfreton Nursery. I am dedicated to the Early Years and recognise that, with the correct foundations at this stage, you can significantly impact future learning and aspirations.
I am available to support practitioners in the EYFS by maximising the impact of both the environment and the teaching. I can support accurate assessment, purposeful high impact planning and getting the best out of your learning environment. I am comfortable with leading practitioners and guiding head teachers towards EYFS improvements.
I have been seconded by the local authority, into a Derbyshire School, to support their Reception class through special measures. Having been in the school 2 terms the EYFS was recognised very positively in the OFSTED monitoring report which stated… “the quality of teaching and learning has improved significantly in the early years”
I am currently supporting a Derbyshire school through my lead teacher role, by providing staff and the head teacher with guidance and training. This support has been a result of a recently conducted OFSED report which identified the EYFS as a weakness. I will work alongside staff, team teach or offer training. I can offer visits to my Reception unit and can assess your current practice to offer the best support.
